A man of few words and only one name, Grun, is a gentle giant until his friend and mentor Wendelaine Goodharvest is in any danger. Grun was left as a baby at the Temple of Merikka in Dilwych. Wendelaine took the boy in and cared for him. It was often wondered whether the boy had been dropped on its head at birth, because he was mute for the first ten years of his life and ever since has only really been able to mutter single words or sentences of single-syllable words.
However, the taunting children of the town soon learned that this gentle boy was not to be pushed too far, as he soon taught several of them a lesson in manners they would never forget. As Grun grew from a giant boy to a giant adult, Wendelaine wondered what would become of him, until in a dream Merikka told him “Some are born to sow, some to my service, and others to protect”. Wendelaine sent Grun to train as a fighter and he excelled in all aspects. Ever since, he has been Wendelaine’s self-appointed body guard. As Wendelaine has wandered, spreading the word of Merikka’s bounty, no-one dared threaten him with this silent giant and his monstrous great sword at his side.
